Wow!!! this is the blog I thought I lost, I am going to publish it even though I kind of started it again but it is different a bit.
I have been making jewelry for over 10 years now. I started when a friend invited me to a beading party. I was hooked and have been getting braver about making my pieces. I find that I will have a piece almost complete and then undue the whole thing because a new idea came to mind as I was making it. I am always looking for more challenging ideas. I am trying to make enough pieces to put into a farmers market but I find myself giving most of my stuff to friends and family. I have sold some to co-workers and friends but I enjoy just creating pieces and seeing people happy to get them.
I was with my husband and daughter in Bass Pro Shop and found some fishing tackle that looked like they would make great pieces to use for my jewelry, the green stone piece above shows the different types of fishing tackle I used. They are much cheaper then buying the beads that do the same thing and I think it give the pieces character.
I have taken some old vintage brooches and added finding to them to make necklaces, trying to make some Steampunk pieces for my daughter with some old watches that are broken and odds and ends that I find at swap meets and yard sales. I have been buying a lot of old broken jewelry and costume jewelry to make some of my pieces.
It is easy to tell the early pieces that I made when I first started out (limited on how much I could spend) and now, I have just been adding items little by little that allow me to make better pieces. I have also purchased a small loom for weaving beaded bracelets, etc.... still new to that but learning, I made a few items but want to buy a better loom or make myself one.
The red dice set was made by request from a friend in my Bunco group, Bunco is a dice game and after I made one bracelet for myself I got a bunch of orders for more in different colors. I was busy with that for a while and then got to go back to my fishing tackle jewelry with swarovski crystals.
